Bwejuu is set on a beautiful beach north of Paje. There’s a lot to do in the area (caves, forests , spice farms, Rock restaurant) and lots of bars and restaurants however you’ll need transportation to access them.
We travelled around the entire island in an hire car which I would highly recommend, was great fun and easy to find our way around. I would say this area is more dirty and littered which is a shame as the rest of the country is really well kept.

We were a family of 10 people.
We were a family of 10 people. I did not expect to walk in sand all over the place. The foliage kept it a little cooler. The pool was fine and clean. I did not expect no air conditioning and trying to stay cool with a standing room fan.
Food was Ok - nothing special. The drive from the airport after dark was dangerous. The walk to the beach was short. A few restaurants were open down the beach.
We moved to another resort just down the street after one night and had clean rooms, air conditioning, on the beach, great meals. We kept our keys because they said we could not get a refund for the 2nd and 3rd nights we had reserved. They said we could come back and use the pool but did rent out our rooms from the 2nd & 3rd nights.
It was more like a hostel but was not advertised well on Booking.com

Bwejuu is the most cleanest and secluded beach of Zanzibar.
Bwejuu is the most cleanest and secluded beach of Zanzibar. The location is perfect for witnessing magical sunrises. We did our wedding at the beach and it was just like a fairytale.

Bwejuu is a small village with two shops where you can buy groceries and cosmetics. There is public transport there. In the vicinity is bigger village of Paje where there are more restaurants and shops.
The beach is absolutely beautiful - white sand, wide a very long (excellent for walks and looking for shells), few people there.
The best restaurants are Shanti café and Sahari.
You can hire kite board there and teacher for kite boarding.
8 km from Bwejuu is beautiful place where you can watch sunset and enjoy big bar with excellent drinks and good music for dancing.

Bwejuu has a great beach.
Bwejuu has a great beach. It is relatively quiet with only a few people working the beach to sell tours etc. We met some friendly locals and joined in some birthday celebrations, which was fun.
Best be aware that there is a big tide so you can’t swim all the time. When the tide is in, the water is shallow and very warm.
In the evenings there is a warm breeze that is refreshing and keeps the mosquitoes away.

Bwejuu area is very disappointing.
Bwejuu area is very disappointing. It has a beach that cannot be enjoyed, far from everywhere, much more expensive than Nungwi and much lower quality. It is a complete mess. I don’t understand why Paje and Bwejuu area are so famous
Exceeded all of my expectations. A stunning little hotel, peaceful and right on the beach front. A delicious free breakfast, and a delicious menu for lunch and dinner. The staff were wonderful and so friendly, Pia and Hasim were amazing hosts who make you feel like family. One day they organised a free boat trip from the beach in front of the hotel! I also wanted to visit the Blue Lagoon and Pia helped me arrange this with a family who were also staying here. Simply wonderful, the best 4 days ever.
One of the best location where we have stayed in our exotic vacations. Very friendly for families, everything new and very clean. We traveled with our 2 year old daughter and the host was very nice to provide everything that we needed for her. The hotel is super close to the beach, the staff is very friendly and kind, the food is amazing. They always have fresh catch to offer, the food is tasty and the fruits delicious.
I highly recommend and we will definitely come back here in the future.
Never have I ever stayed in such a beautiful hotel with such friendly staff. I felt truly welcome throughout my entire stay. Our bungalow was basically straight on the beach with a swimming pool and other facilities around the corner. While we very much enjoyed the food & drinks in the restaurant, our little son especially enjoyed playing in the kid's corner. Communication with the staff when arranging different trips was also very good. Truly great experience!
The breakfast and dinner was perfect and the selection was plentiful.
Very friendly staff. The Beach bar has a rich selection of drinks and you can also eat there. Isaya the bar boy is a fairy. The sunbeds are comfortable and there is also a shower. Direct beach. The pool is big, the garden is beautiful. Very clean and tidy. Ally the manager solves everything! A very calm place, perfect for relaxation!
We loved staying at Makuti Beach Bungalows. The rooms facing the ocean are wonderful. Breakfast was delicious with a large variety of options. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Our kids spent hours in the pool and playing in the sand. And the ocean… what can you say? Beautiful!
The cosy paradise on the coast of Indian Ocean! Private villa with an astonishing view to the ocean, comfortable beds, white sandy beach, friendly and helpful staff, nice and clean pool, best food in Bwejuu area. A perfect place for family stay! Enjoyed every minute of our stay!
The property was very clean and relaxing. The staff was welcoming and made you feel at home. It has a very “feel at home” vibe, as this place is composed of only 6 bungalows. You get the privacy of a hotel, minus all the chaos of a hotel. It’s super close to the beach as well.
Hotel is lovely and nice for just being opening, hotel is on beach front
Short walk to paje from hotel
Restaurant food is lovely and breakfast was delicious
Would recommend this hotel just lacks some professionalism and can do some improving to better the hotel
We had a lovely time at the hotel. The staff was very friendly and casual. The food at the restaurant was great. The whole set-up was relaxing. We especially liked that Bwejuu area was calm without too many people around on the beach.
We liked the location of the villa, there was a very nice hotel next to us which has a really good breakfast options. We also liked the rooms of the villa and had a very nice maasai security.
- Very cozy and thoughtful decorated spacious rooms
- multiple nice chillout areas
- facilities of a nearby luxury hotel with beach access can be utilised
- friendly staff
- great breakfast
Relax vibe, the luxury of this place is not the room but the outside space available for each guest. Not crowded, relaxed, real beach experience, away from the crowds. Good value for money
I liked that it was in a nice quieter area of Zanzibar, great for relaxation and enjoying a peaceful atmosphere. I also liked how friendly and welcoming all the staff were.
The hotel is located right on the beach, the view is amazing, and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are very cozy and, for a European, seem quite authentic for Africa.
Amazing little cute hotel with great staff and great food! the all day coffee stations had me sold . Yvonne was absolutely amazing and so were the rest of the staff!
