This hotel is beach front and although it was foggy and rainy, we could still see the ocean.
We liked the fact that there as a little cafe run by Dave who made us up a shrimp and salad supper so we didn’t have to navigate in the fog!
Most of all, the staff at the hotel are great and super helpful. We had a problem with payment which has been sorted out by the Manager, Lynnsey.

We really love the OBX and this hotel is in a perfect location for whatever you want to do!!
We have stayed here several times and will definitely stay here again.
You can’t beat the off season rates for everything they have to offer.

The last time I was in KDH was about 20 years ago and I have to say time has not not been kind to it. So commercial, touristy and filthy. Litter and cigarette butts covered the side of the road, where you will have to walk if you want some exercise, as there are no sidewalks on many of the busy streets.
We visited in the off-season as a side trip on our way from NJ to GA so we could go to the Wright Brothers memorial. The memorial is nicely done, and the building it is housed in is lovely. I'd suggest making a day trip to see it and then getting out of town.

My review is of the outer banks area - kill devil hills to Corolla.
Loved exploring the area and seeing the wild horses.
Lots of seafood restaurants and beautiful scenery.
We didn’t get a chance to see the Orville brothers monument or check out the Lighthouse.
We definitely didn’t expect to see dolphins especially so many on our beach drive. Very beautiful area and would love to go back when it’s warmer.

The hotel was right on the beach, always a plus, and many restaurants were easily accessible. It was clean and recently refurbished. The bed was comfortable.
on the downside: walls were very thin—we were kept awake with music and singing the first night until after midnight. No staff onsite after 11 to deal with the situation. You could make out the words others were saying in other rooms. Hall noise also annoying. Breakfast bar was pretty ho-hum, didn’t even have a microwave to warm pastries. We ate breakfast in our room, usually.
Location is perfect. The room was good enough gor an Inn but I still ecpect to see more. I am on a road trip tje lsdt 6wkd and have stayed at a different place almost every night for 6 wks. Sll motels hotels inns are very expensive since Covid. I wish these places could be updated on a regular basis there is too much wear and tear. Comfort inn sre good across the statef I have traveled.
The breakfast however at this one is quite miserable.
The location of Driftin Sands is right across from the ocean. There was a walkway to the beach a few houses away. We rented a 2 bedroom apartment which was roomy enough to leave our dog Lucy without worrying about her disturbing others or being disturbed by others. The hotel was very pet friendly and comfortable for us and our dog.
The location of the hotel is perfect, right on the beach with a pool. The room was huge and much larger and nicer than we expected. The breakfast options were great, and although breakfast may look different because of Covid restrictions everything was great. We will definitely be back!
Our family as been staying here almost every summer for the past couple of years. Can’t beat the price for the location and amenities this hotel has to offer. Easy beach access, one indoor and one outdoor pool, continental breakfast, and even pet friendly.
The location on the beach is amazing. The pool is very clean and has new chairs. Bedding is new and comfortable. It's an old hotel but you can tell they keep it clean despite holes in the wall etc...I do appreciate that it's pet friendly.
Breakfast- cheap, not hot and not worthy. We skipped it
Room- no toilet roll dispenser. AC doesn't cool the room even at 68f
Beach- we were deceived - full pool view partial ocean view. I booked ocean view that I never got. Stay away
Everything! Staff was great, location was perfect, beach acces was perfect. One of the most comfortable beds we've had in a hotel. Breakfast was good. Honestly have zero complaints. Will stay again next time we come to Outer Banks.
The room was clean and neat. The hallways were clean which is saying a lot for a hotel on the beach front. Everyone we met was having a good time. The lady in the breakfast area was engaging and kept everything moving.
The hotel is in a very nice location but we didn’t get a room in that building. Staff was very kind to walk from the hotel to our building at midnight to bring as some soap and shampoo as there was none inside the room
The rooms were very clean, quick acces to the beach. Coffee Bar was quite good and the staff was very friendly.
We enjoyed the Pool, it was clean and water was warm. All in all the perfect hotel for what you pay.
The hotel is right in the middle of kitty hawk. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. It’s not far from the beach. 10 minute drive to the Avalon pier.
