When is the best time to visit Las Vegas?

If you want to avoid the extreme heat of Nevada's desert climate, the best month to visit Las Vegas is April. However, any time during the spring (March-June) should offer similar experiences.

Between March and June, daytime temperatures tend to hover in the 72-90 degrees Fahrenheit range, and that number jumps to a very uncomfortable 102 degrees Fahrenheit in June. As with most desert areas, it gets much cooler at night, with temperatures commonly between 35 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

Spring is one of the city's busiest tourist seasons, and you can expect to encounter a lot of other tourists. Hotels and flights in Vegas are generally affordable all year. If you want to get away from the busy strip for a bit, consider taking a helicopter tour of the city.

You can usually find hotel deals in Las Vegas year-round

When is the cheapest time to go to Las Vegas?

Las Vegas is known for being an affordable getaway spot. Since most of the strip's income comes from its casinos and shows, you can usually find deals on hotel rooms all year.

If you want to know when to go to Las Vegas to save as much as possible, consider booking a trip during the winter (December-March) and fall (September-November). These are the city's tourist "low seasons," and the decreased demand for accommodation and flights results in lower prices.

Don't expect the strip to be empty, though. Las Vegas is a popular tourist destination all year. Make sure to book your travel plans as soon as possible to ensure you get the room, flight, and entertainment tickets you want.

Las Vegas winters see daytime temperatures between 59 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit and nightly lows between 27 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The fall climate is warmer--daily highs are between 60 and 96 degrees Fahrenheit, and nightly lows are between 27 and 57 degrees Fahrenheit on average.

When is the cheapest time to fly to Las Vegas?

If you want to find deals on flights, the best months to visit Las Vegas are January, February, April, and September. Fewer people travel in these months, so airlines are more likely to discount airfares to entice more people to book trips.

January, February, and September are when you're also likely to find hotel discounts because there are fewer tourists. However, that's not the case in April--the middle of Las Vegas' busy spring (March-June) season.

The weather in Vegas will be sunny and dry no matter when you visit. January and February tend to be colder, with temperatures between 28 and 66 degrees Fahrenheit. April and September, instead, range between 45-81 and 57-96 degrees Fahrenheit, respectively.

When is the Las Vegas peak season?

Las Vegas hosts an impressive 42 million tourists each year. A large percentage of those visitors generally come in the spring (March-June).

Vegas' springtime weather is comfortable, with temperatures usually in the 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit range. While the latter temperature is warm, it's not dangerously hot like it can be during the summer (June-September).

Many people choose to visit Las Vegas in the spring. College students and families choose to vacation here when the schools end for Spring break, and the city has famously become a top weekend getaway destination. You'll no doubt be standing in long lines or be disappointed by the sold-out shows.

Hotels and airlines will reach their peak prices in the spring. However, prices in Vegas tend to be moderate all year. How much you spend is determined by how far in advance you book your trip; if you wait until the last minute, you'll have fewer options.

When is the Las Vegas off-season?

If you want to reduce your exposure to high crowd levels, late fall (September-December) and winter (December-March) are the best times to travel to Las Vegas. Most people travel to other locations around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, and fewer people travel in winter.

The November-February period is one of the best times to see some of Las Vegas' attractions off the Strip as well. Getting around will be easier and faster due to less traffic and less crowded public transportation.

Prices are lower, thanks to the lower demand for hotel and flight bookings. You're also more likely to get tickets to the shows you want to see without paying a fortune.

Make sure to pack layers, as even though temperatures range between 50 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit on average, nightly weather can dip as low as 27 degrees Fahrenheit.

The best weather in Las Vegas is during the spring months, with almost no rain

When is the best season to visit Las Vegas?

According to locals, spring (March-June) is the best time of year to visit Las Vegas. While it's considered the area's tourist high season, with crowding inevitable, it's the season with the best weather.

The spring climate is dry, with an average of one day of rain per month. Sunny skies will abound, and walking around will be comfortable at 72-90 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. However, bring a jacket when exploring the area at night since 39-59 degrees Fahrenheit temperatures are likely.

Spring isn't the cheapest time to go to Las Vegas, but you should still be able to find a few hotel deals, and flights to the area aren't usually too expensive. Many amenities in Vegas, such as shows, hotel rates, and tours, tend to have surge pricing, so you might notice costs go up on weekends.

Summer is the worst time for extremely hot and dry weather in Las Vegas

When is the worst time to visit Las Vegas?

There are two "worst" times to visit Las Vegas, depending on your travel preferences. Spring (March-June) and summer (June-September) can be less-than-ideal times to plan a vacation.

You might want to avoid coming to Las Vegas in the spring if you have a tight budget. It's one of the area's busiest tourist seasons, so you'll find fewer discounts on accommodation and travel. However, if that's the only time you have available to travel, you can save money by enjoying some of Las Vegas' free activities.

Summer, on the other hand, has the worst weather. Temperatures are regularly above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and the desert climate's dryness makes dehydration possible if you're not careful to drink a lot of water.

Both spring and summer have high crowd levels. Spring break and summer vacation mean more university students and families can visit.

When is the best time to visit Las Vegas with family?

In recent years, Vegas has become a popular destination for family vacations. There are numerous attractions on the strip, from roller coasters to magic shows, appropriate for people of all ages.

May, June, and September are often considered the best times to visit Las Vegas if you travel with your family. Coming to Vegas in these months means children won't miss any school while also avoiding peak tourist times.

Lower crowd levels can make walking around the strip less stressful, and you won't have to wait in too many long lines. It's also more likely you'll be able to get last-minute tickets to shows or tours.

Lower crowd levels can also lower prices. These months are a little more affordable, but you can also save money by planning your trip during the week rather than on the weekend.

The weather will be hot as daily highs are generally between 90 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Make sure to pack sunscreen and drink a lot of water.

When are the busiest weekends in Las Vegas?

Las Vegas is very popular for a weekend getaway. All year, you'll notice an increase in crowd levels at the end of the week, which usually dip by the following Tuesday.

However, multiple weekends throughout the year are even busier than usual. In winter (December-March), you'll notice more tourists on the weekend(s) between Christmas and New Year's day. The weekend of the Super Bowl in February also brings many people to the area.

March Madness weekend kicks off Las Vegas' busy spring (March-June) season. Memorial Day weekend is another hectic time in late spring.

Independence Day in July and Labor Day weekend are two weekends in summer (June-September) that routinely have high crowd levels. The weekend of Halloween in October and Thanksgiving weekend in November have also recently become popular vacation times.

Spring is a great time to visit the Las Vegas strip

When is the best time to visit Las Vegas Strip?

Spring (March-June) is the best time to visit Las Vegas if you're looking forward to seeing the strip. Many hotels on this famous street have become Las Vegas landmarks you won't want to miss.

While you'll likely spend a lot of time "hotel hopping"--walking around inside the different hotels to admire their themes, you'll still be spending time outside. Spring's weather is tolerable, with temperatures between 72 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, so you can comfortably walk around without overheating.

Spring brings a lot of tourists to Las Vegas, and you should still be able to see everything the strip has to offer, but you can avoid the worst of the crowds by traveling during the week.

When is the best time to drive to Las Vegas?

Fall (September-November) is the best time to drive to Las Vegas. However, in some cases, spring (March-June) can be preferable, depending on where you're driving from.

If you're coming from a state with mild temperatures, fall is a good time to take to the roads because you won't have to worry about ice or snow. You likely won't encounter much traffic between September and mid-November. The start of the school season in August/September usually means fewer families taking road trips.

If you're traveling from a northern area like Montana, north Idaho, or even Canada, you might want to wait until April or May to drive to Vegas. Weather conditions might be more favorable then, with warmer temperatures and less chance of encountering ice on your journey, and spring traffic tends to be light.

When is the best time to go to Las Vegas to party?

Late spring (March-June) and early fall (September-December) are the party seasons for Las Vegas. The temperatures hover between 81 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit in spring and between 83 and 96 degrees Fahrenheit in fall, and outdoor parties are in full swing.

The Electric Daisy Carnival is one of the most famous festivals in Vegas and is held every May. Las Vegas also hosts Halloween parties all over the strip in October.

If you want to go to a Vegas party but can't make it when they're "in season," don't worry. The city's New Year's Eve bashes won't disappoint, and more than enough dance clubs are open all year.

Weather, Prices, and Crowds in Las Vegas

Consider weather, prices and crowds when planning a visit to Las Vegas

Vegas in January

Depending on the time of the month you're traveling, January is both one of the least and one of the busiest months to come to Vegas. The first half of the month tends to have higher crowd levels than the second half.

The Consumer Electronics Show, often abbreviated to CES, is why tourists come to Las Vegas in the first half of the month. This trade show is one of the most significant tech events in the world and showcases technology that's in development and about to be released throughout the year.

After CES ends, crowd levels will settle down. The sudden drop in demand means you'll be able to find better deals on hotel rooms and flights.

January is the area's coldest month. Temperatures range between 28 and 59 degrees Fahrenheit, but you can expect mostly sunny skies and low humidity.

Vegas in February

February is one of Las Vegas' slower tourism months. However, it can also be a great time to plan a Valentine's Day getaway thanks to the plethora of romantic activities couples can do on and around the strip.

You might notice hotel rooms raise their prices around Valentine's Day as the holiday approaches. In general, you'll be able to plan a budget-friendly trip, especially if you book at least a month in advance.

The area's February climate is mild, and there are usually only two days of rain throughout the month, and temperatures hover in the 33-66 degrees Fahrenheit range.

Vegas in March

Many travelers will tell you that March is the best time of year to go to Las Vegas. The month is on the cusp of winter (December-March) and spring (March-June), so you can enjoy the benefits of both seasons.

In the first half of the month, you'll enjoy the lower prices that come with winter. Hotels and airlines will offer the last winter deals before the spring high season starts.

You'll notice tourist levels slowly increase throughout the month. Spring break travelers start trickling into the area around mid-March, but crowding isn't too bad.

March's weather is beautiful. It rarely rains, but the mostly-sunny conditions don't usually raise temperatures above 72 degrees Fahrenheit.

Vegas in April

April is an excellent time to visit Las Vegas and enjoy the city's best weather conditions. Daily highs don't typically exceed 81, and the nightly lows hover around 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

However, traveling in April means dealing with crowds. Weekends during the month are jam-packed, so locals recommend visiting during the week to avoid dealing with long lines and large groups of people.

Prices in April are in the moderate to high range, and you won't find too many special offers on hotel rooms or flights, but generally, you'll save some money by visiting on weekdays.

Vegas in May

May is one of the best months to visit Vegas if you want to participate in the globally famouselectronic music festival EDC, which is held near the end of the month.

If you prefer to avoid high crowd levels, you might want to rethink planning a May visit. Many families travel to Vegas in May as school starts letting out for the summer (June-September).

However, May is one of the most expensive times to visit Las Vegas. The high demand for reservations means hotels, restaurants, and airlines don't have much incentive to lower their prices. You'll also have fewer options unless you make your reservations at least a month in advance.

May's climate is warm. Temperatures regularly reach 90 degrees Fahrenheit during the day, so it's essential to stay hydrated both in and outdoors. Every indoor venue has air conditioning for your comfort.

Vegas in June

There are many benefits to visiting Las Vegas in June. If summer (June-September) is the best time to travel, June's weather isn't as hot as the rest of the season. However, temperatures regularly reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and it's rarely cloudy, so ensure you pack sun protection.

June is a popular tourist month. Schools worldwide aren't in session, so university students and families can travel. If you want to escape the crowds and see some of the area's other landmarks, consider booking a West Grand Canyon tour.

You'll likely notice a dip in hotel prices in June if you book early, especially if you make reservations for a weekday stay. On the other hand, last-minute trips can be pricey.

Vegas in July

July is the hottest month in Las Vegas. Temperatures reaching nearly 110 degrees Fahrenheit are typical, and the dry air and mostly sunny skies can make it feel even hotter. Nightly temperatures are more comfortable--usually around 67 degrees Fahrenheit.

However, the heat doesn't keep people from vacationing. It's a popular tourism month for families and people taking summer (June-September) road trips. Weekdays are still busy, but crowds are a tad more tolerable.

Prices in July tend to be near their peak, especially around Independence Day at the beginning of the month. The high demand for amenities also makes hotels and flights more likely to book up quickly.

Vegas in August

While still a busy month, August marks the beginning of Las Vegas' shift towards its tourist "off-season." Schools nationwide start classes around the middle of the month, which lowers the number of families and university-age students on the strip.

August's temperatures are usually between 100 and 105 degrees Fahrenheit during the day, but you might notice temperatures dip into the 90s towards the end of the month. Make sure you stay hydrated and avoid direct sunlight between noon and mid-afternoon when the sun is at its highest.

You'll notice costs slowly but steadily decrease throughout the month. The lower demand for hotel rooms and flights also leads to lower prices, though amenities tend to book up quickly during the month.

Vegas in September

If you ask the locals, they'll tell you September is one of the best months to visit Las Vegas. Crowd levels start dropping after Labor Day at the beginning of the month.

The lower crowd levels mean restaurants, lounges, and bars will be less busy. If you want to take advantage of the relative peace and try some of the city's world-class food, consider taking a food tour of downtown Las Vegas.

You'll be able to plan an affordable trip in September as well as hotels are more likely to offer discounts on room rates to encourage visitors to come to the strip.

Despite the beginning of fall (September-December) at the end of the month, September is still hot. Temperatures are usually around 95 degrees Fahrenheit, with only one day of rain on average.

Vegas in October

If you love Halloween, October is the best time to vacation in Las Vegas. There are events and parties for people of all ages all over the city, and some of the smaller shows on the strip will even modify their performances to be spooky or horror-themed.

Even if you're not a fan of Halloween, you can still enjoy Las Vegas' regular attractions. Crowd levels can fluctuate, but weekdays are far less busy than weekends in the month.

You'll notice a surge in pricing in October. That means admission tickets, hotel, and flight prices will vary depending on the day, with busy weekends costing more than weekdays.

October's weather is warm but nowhere near as hot as the area's summer climate. Temperatures are usually in the low 80s Fahrenheit and can dip as low as 46 degrees Fahrenheit at night.

Vegas in November

Historically, November was one of the slowest months in Las Vegas. In fact, until recently, many locals would choose November to vacation.

November has become a popular month for tourists in the past few years. Crowd levels are still manageable, but weekends tend to draw larger numbers of out-of-towners, especially around Thanksgiving.

Prices in November are typically affordable, depending on your budget, and weekends are more expensive since they tend to be busier.

November is a great month to try out some of the more adventurous activities around the strip since you won't have to wait in long lines. You can even test-drive exotic cars if you're 18 or older.

Though the weather is sunny nearly every day, it's not that hot in November, and temperatures around 70 degrees Fahrenheit are typical.

Vegas in December

You might not expect December to be a popular month for tourism in Las Vegas, but there are many reasons to come to the strip. There are holiday events all over the strip to celebrate Christmas and New Year's Eve, and plenty of non-Christmas events also draw visitors to the city.

The National Finals Rodeo is hosted in Las Vegas every December. The Esports Awards are also held in Vegas, along with numerous NFL games and other sporting events.

Most of these events are over the weekend, so if you want to avoid large crowds and groups, planning a weekday visit in the first half of the month is a good way to do that.

You'll notice prices increase in the last two weeks of December as the holidays approach, especially for last-minute trips. If you book two months in advance, you'll likely find deals before hotels and flights book up.

Despite being in the desert, Las Vegas can get cold in December. Temperatures usually stick in the 27-60 degrees Fahrenheit range but don't expect rain or snow.

In Summary

No matter when you visit, Las Vegas has plenty of world-class entertainment and fun for you to enjoy. It's not surprising millions of people from around the world visit every year.

If you want to feel more like a local, consider traveling in the fall (September-December) or winter (December-March) when crowd levels are lower. Winter is also a great time to visit if you want to plan a budget-friendly trip.

If enjoying nice weather is your biggest concern, spring (March-June) will be the best time to travel. Days are comfortably warm, and nights are cool all season.

Hopefully, this article has helped you figure out what time of the year is best for your Las Vegas trip. All you have to do now is start planning!
